That entire truck looks pretty different. Especially the wheels, rear windows and the fact that the cap is pretty consistent with the rest of the truck.
B6 looking fine as ever!

It's a custom. That extended cab window looks like it's from a late 70s F series.

Why thank you.
That truck is throwing me off.
Also. I think I could rock that Bug. Fully loaded and it's quick!

I was gauging it off a 77. It could be a one off though.

Haha, I'm pretty sure BugEyedBeetle has one pretty similar to that.

The 73-87 Square Body were never offered as an extended cab from the factory. There were some conversion companies like Centurion that built a few but they are super rare. I have never seen one with a rear window like that though... but based on the graphics and how well put together it looks I'd say it was a conversion job.

Also I didn't notice at first but this is a short bed... that means that this truck was a regular cab long bed from the factory.
Seeing as its a 3/4 ton it probably started life as a Camper Special package. Based on the front fenders it's also pre-1981. & I can't see the grille but because the fuel caps are exposed it's pre-1978. Or at least the bed is

It was fun to drive. The boost could be tuned.

I showed it to my father in law and he said a lot of guys customize old Forest Servie trucks.

Yep, they never did an extended cab on that body style.

Yep, I've only ever seen one of them. I'd rock this truck.

Sadly..
GM and Jeep both held out on extended cabs for some reason. GM came around in 88 with the redesign and the Jeep went away all together.

Except this would not be a Forest Service truck. This truck is only 2wd.

this is a thread I found when I first saw oneof these trucks in the wild which has some good info on how these trucks were built. If you look in the first post you can see how the long bed was cut down to fit. After looking back at this truck that is exactly what was done here. the fuel filler is too close to the cab for a factory short bed.
